Once and for all

What More Could Jesus Do

Speaker: Y. Rowe | Series: Once and for All

Introduction

What more could He do? What more could Jesus do?

Out of His love for us, He just said, Prepare me a body. And He disrobbed Himself of heaven’s best. He put on flesh.

Hevwas born, not in a palace, hospital, or house. But in a stable, and He was placed in a manger. And because of that, He subjected Himself to hunger, thirst, fatigue, and all human limitations.

The Bible says in John 1:14 “And the word Jesus Christ became flesh. and dwelt among us. And we beheld His glory, the glory of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” He was born to die, for me and for you.

What more could He do? He patiently taught thousands in synagogues out in the open air, and He even preached to His own – the Jewish nation.

But they did not receive Him. However, as many as received Him, to them, He gained the right, the authority, the privilege to believe, to become children of God – to those who believe in His name. Those who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God, as stated in John 1:11-13.

Thank God for Jesus.

Miracles of Love and Restoration

Out of love, He performed many miracles on earth, beginning with the miracles of the miracle of abundance, turning water into wine, to the final recorded miracle in the Garden of Gethsemane, where tension and betrayal loomed. A chaplain by the name of Jeff David stated, there Peter struck Malchus, severing His ear. But in the midst of the chaos, Jesus did something remarkable. He healed Malchus, restoring what had been lost.

No matter where you may find yourself today. whether in a season of celebration or one of struggle, these miracles remind us that Jesus is present.

He is still providing, still healing, still restoring. Just as He turned water into wine, He can bring joy out of emptiness. Just as He healed Monkus, eeking men, what is broken in our life.

Trust in His love, and believe that the same Jesus who performed these miracles is still working miracles today.

John 20:30-31 encourages us, stating, and truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples which are not written in this book called the Bible, but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.

Once and for All

So what more could He do? He was born to die. He performed many miracles, and preached, and taught to multitudes. What more could Jesus do?

Well, Pastor Rod reminded us that He can do it the agony of the cross. He, sacrificed His life. He shed His blood and made atonement for sin. once and for all.

John 3:16, which has been repeated all week long, “For God so loved the world. that He gave His only begotten son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have ever lasting life.”

Jesus paid the ultimate price by dying once and for all, so that we could have eternal life. What more could He do?

Resurrection and Authority

Well, on the third day, Jesus got up. He rose from the grave with all authority and power in His hands. Matthew 28:8, confirms this. It states,”And Jesus came, and spoke to them, saying, All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth.”

Jesus conquered death and sin, thus providing eternal life. What more could He do?

The Gift of the Holy Spirit

In addition to all the above, Jesus gave us the gift of the Holy Spirit so that we would not be left open.

John 14:16-17b says,”And I will pray the Father. And He will give you another helper, that He may abide with you forever.” He will dwell with you, and He will be in you.

The Holy Spirit helps us. Guides us, instructs us, leads us. He brings to our memory, those things in the Word of God. He leads us into all truths.

Intercession and a Prepared Place

What more could Jesus do? The Bible tells us in Romans 8:34 that He, Christ, is seated at the right hand of the Father making intercession for us.

He is also preparing a place for us, as stated in John 14:2-3 where Jesus said, “In my Father’s house, are many mansions. If it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you, and if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself that where I am, there, you may be also.

Oh, how He loves you and me.

All that Jesus did was motivated by His love. His awesome love, His great love, His everlasting love, for you and for me.

Our Response

So what should be our response for all that Jesus has done for us, is doing for us and will ultimately do for us. What should be our response?

Well, number one, we should worship Him for who He is, and praise Him for what He has done. Out of a heart of thanksgiving and sincerity.

Number two, we should trust Him and walk in obedience to Him.

Number three, we should love Him, and love others, we should share His love with others. Let’s expand His kingdom.

And lastly, our response is to anticipate His return. We anticipate His return. And when I think of His return, it reminds me of the words of a song that we used to sing here at Foundation Church. And it says, “Oh, I want to see Him. Look upon His face, there to sing forever of His saving grace. On the streets of glory, let me lift my voice. Cares all pass, home at last, ever to rejoice.

Message

Once and for all, out of His eternal and everlasting love for us, Jesus was born. He suffered, bled, and died, and He rose on the third day that we might have life eternal.

That was enough. It was sufficient. There was nothing more for Him to do as, do as the work of redemption was completed.

However, because He loves us with an everlasting love, and He cares deeply about us. His work of sanctification, purification, and transformation is ongoing in our lives. Individually, as well as collectively.

Where would we be? if Jesus didn’t love us. Where would we be if Jesus didn’t care? Where would we be if He had not sacrificed His life? We are glad that He did.

Prayer

Father, thank you. Thank you for your word for it is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. God help us to hide it in our hearts, that we might not sin against you.
