“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.”
— 1 Peter 5:6–7
Let the Meddling Continue
Giving way to God — we’re opening up the door to Him and saying, “Come in and continue the meddling. Come in and continue the shifting. Come in and continue the awakening.” That’s what we’re talking about today.
Last Sunday, the message resonated in my spirit from then till now, and it will continue to resonate, because I need God to meddle. I will take my hands off, God, so You can do what You want to do in my life. It’s not a negative thing. It’s a good thing for God to come in and meddle.
So let the meddling continue.
Understanding the Call to Meddle
We’re looking at 1 Peter chapter 5, verse 7, but we go back to verse 6, and it talks about honoring God, humbling ourselves before God. And when you do it, then you will be casting — casting, ongoing — not just cast your care on Him today and let it go, but continual casting.
So meddle. M-E-D-D-L-E.
I was able to put some acrostic together with the letters MEDDLE.
The first letter is M — move.
Move out of the way. Ladies and gentlemen, we’ve been standing in the way too long. Move out of the way so God can get in and do what He wants to do. And moving is not easy. We have to humble ourselves to move. We have to take our hands off.
The next letter is E — engage God earnestly.
Engage Him. He is there. Even though you’re in the valley, He has never left you. Engage Him. Talk to Him. Lift up your hands and say, “Help me, Lord.” Engage Him.
The first D — don’t stop casting.
Don’t stop casting every day, continually casting your care upon Him.
The second D — do what is right.
Come on, ladies and gentlemen, let us do what is right, what is honorable. We humble ourselves, we cast our care upon Him, and we do what is right.
The L — let go.
Let go and go low. When you let go and go low, God will go high in you.
The E — empowered.
When He meddles, you’ll be empowered to fulfill the assignment that God has for your life.
Bless this Mess
Sometimes, you know, we say we want God involved. All of us sitting here—if I were to take the mic and pass it around to each of you and ask you if you want God involved—you would say yes, absolutely, I want Him involved. But sometimes what we’re really saying is this: God, bless what I am already doing.
God, bless what I’m already doing. That’s backward. We should have asked Him before. Scripture shows us that when God steps in, it feels less like help. It feels less like help and more like He’s interfering. It doesn’t feel like He’s coming to help. Come on—you had your plans. You had the t’s crossed, the i’s dotted. You knew exactly what you wanted, and when you go to Him, you’re telling Him to bless this.
And for Him, it’s like, I’m not going to come in here and bless this mess. Come on. I’m coming in here to meddle. I’m going to meddle and make some shifting, all right? But okay—it often feels less like help and more like interference. And so that’s what we’re talking about when we’re talking about meddling. It seems like interference, but it is not interference.
God is coming in to help.
God’s Mighty Hand
Peter writes in verse 6, “Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time,” and then, “casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” And then when you continue to read, it says that the devil goes about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
He wants to devour you in 2026. He didn’t get to devour you in 2025, but do you think he put his tools down, his trickery down, and his conniving ways down because you’re now in 2026? No. He said, I’m going to try something else in 2026. I didn’t get you in 2025—something’s coming another way to get you. So come on. Let’s not be fooled into thinking all is well and Satan is just saying, oh, go your merry way and continue to do what you’re doing. No, no, no, no, no, no.
Here’s what we have to pay attention to. The first thing that we heard last Sunday is that we need to humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God—God’s mighty hand.
When God’s Hand Presses
Now God’s mighty hand doesn’t always offer comfort. That’s one of the things we think all the time—that He’s going to come, pat you on your shoulder, and say, “Okay, dear one. Okay, sister so-and-so.”
Sometimes that mighty hand presses down on us. That mighty hand redirects us. That mighty hand restrains us from going left when we should be going right, from going high when we should be going low.
The mighty hand doesn’t always offer comfort. Yes, thank God for His comfort. Thank God for His peace. Thank God for His hope. But sometimes we need that pressing. The mighty hand of God presses us down to take out the impurities, to take out what is not like Him. So He presses it so that He can give us the redirection that we need in 2026 and pull us back from some of the decisions that we would have made.
God has closed doors that we wanted open, but He’s closing the door because He’s meddling. He knows what is best for you. And so He’s closing that door. And sometimes He’s going to slow you down. We want to speed up. And He’s saying, “Slow down.” That’s what He’s telling us—to slow down. Slow down. Because we want to go fast. We want to go quickly, and sometimes we want to do what we want to do.
When we do what we want to do, we are exposing pride. And what happens with pride goes before a fall. So He’s exposing our pride, okay?
Continue Meddling
If we don’t realize who we have—the Almighty God, the Almighty Creator, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace, the Great Counselor, the I AM that I AM—He’s the one who is guiding. He’s the one who is meddling. Lift your hand and say, “Come on, Heavenly Father, and meddle. Come on, Prince of Peace, and meddle. Come on and make the shifting—meddle, meddle, meddle.” Continue to meddle. It’s not just for last Sunday, but it’s for every day, the rest of this year.
Come in, God, and show up. Show up. Show up. Press down and squeeze out the impurities that are in me.
Meddling Is Grace
When God meddles, it’s not punishment — it’s involvement. He meddles because He cares. He knows better than we do. So when it feels like delay, it’s not delay — it’s preparation. Preparation for where He’s taking you.
Cast all your care upon Him. Not some — all. Your worries, your fears, your frustrations, your doubts, your unanswered questions. The same hand that presses you down is the same hand that will lift you up. So lift your hands and say, “Thank You, God, for the lifting. Thank You for the meddling.”
Closing Prayer
Father, we thank You for this time. Thank You for Your Word. Thank You for Your care. Thank You for the meddling. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
Hallelujah. Thank You, Lord.
