Focus Scripture: John 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
Introduction

My text this morning is found in John 19:30.

When Jesus was hanging on the cross, one of the last words He said was, “It is finished.” It is finished. Now, when Jesus declared, “It is finished,” He was not speaking in weakness. He was proclaiming victory. His sacrifice was not partial. It was not temporary. It was not almost enough. It was more than enough.

E — Eternal Sacrifice

Okay, so let’s look at the word ENOUGH as an acrostic, and let’s talk about this claim.

E, the first letter is E. Eternal sacrifice, Jesus. His sacrifice reaches across time. It’s not limited. Hebrews only reads in Hebrews chapter 9, verse 12. It tells us that He entered once and for all, like Pastor preached last week, into the holy place, securing eternal redemption. Eternal redemption. So claim it this morning. Say hallelujah right where you are for this eternal redemption. It’s not yearly. It’s not repeated. It’s once and for all. Hallelujah. Done. Finished.

N — No More Offering for Sin

The next letter is the letter N.

No more offering for sin, no more offering for sin, no more offering for sin. Under the old covenant, sacrifices were repeated daily. But after Jesus offered Himself, the Bible tells us in Hebrews 10, verse 18, that there’s no more offering for sin. The cross settled the debt completely. Lift your hands and tell yourself, I am completely free. Oh hallelujah. I am completely free. Hallelujah. Okay, the cross settles the debt completely.

O — Overcame Once and for All

The next letter is the letter O. Overcame once and for all. Overcame once and for all.

He overcame sin. He overcame death, and He overcame the grave, through one act, one act, one act of righteousness. Salvation came according to Romans 5, verse 18. One act. Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification for all of us. Hallelujah, we are justified.

Now, let me just say this. The resurrection is heaven’s receipt stamped paid in full. Ha ha. Paid in full. That’s what the stamp of the resurrection means.

U — Unmatched Love

U, the letter U. Unmatched love.

We know the scripture, John 3:16. For God so loved the world, He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes will not perish, but have everlasting eternal life. Now, this was not a love that was reluctant. Sometimes we hesitate in hugging somebody or hesitate. No, no, no, no, no. This love was not reluctant. This love was sacrificial. It was relentless. It was redeeming love.

No greater love has ever been shown. Hallelujah. I don’t care how much you love your husband and your wife and your children. I don’t care how much you think you are in love, no greater love has been shown than what God sent through His Son, Jesus, to sacrifice for us at Calvary. That love cannot be matched. Nobody can match that love. So we say hallelujah. Thank you, Lord, for that love.

G — Grace Greater Than Sin

And then the letter G. The letter G, Grace greater than sin. Grace greater than sin.

Where sin increased, grace abounded, Romans 5, verse 20. Let me tell you something, ladies and gentlemen, your failure is not stronger than His forgiveness. You hearing me? Your failure is not stronger than His forgiveness. You go to Him and ask Him to forgive you, and He will. Your past is not greater than His grace. Put that past under the blood. Your past is not greater than His grace.

H — He Sat Down

And then the last letter is the letter H. He sat down.

Hallelujah. After offering one sacrifice for sins forever, Hebrews 10:12 tells us He sat down at the right hand of God, making intercessions for us. So the last letter is the letter H, He sat down. Priests stood daily. Daily the priests had to stand because their work was never finished, but Jesus, Jesus sat down because redemption was complete.

When He said it is finished, it meant the price was paid. The work was done. The sacrifice was accepted, and salvation was secured. That’s what it is finished means. The price was paid. The work was done. The sacrifice was accepted, and our salvation was secured. Hallelujah.

Conclusion

So we don’t have to add anything to it. We don’t have to earn it. We only have to receive it. That’s all we have to do. Don’t add to it. You’re not gonna earn it. Just receive it, because His sacrifice was not barely sufficient. It was not just adequate. It was, and it still is, more than enough.

The blood still works today. All right? Hallelujah. Praise the Lord. Let’s just thank Him right now that the blood still works. Hallelujah. More than enough. More than enough.
