Why Are You Living on the Edge?

Speaker: S. Mann | Series: Now Behold The Lamb | Focus Scriptures: Revelation 2:4-5; Matthew 24:37

Focus Scriptures
Revelation 2:4 Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love. 5 Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place—unless you repent. (NKJV)
Matthew 24:37 But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. (NKJV)

Living by Your Own Will

People live according to their own will. And one day, everyone will meet the Lord— either as Savior or as Judge. That will be determined by how we live and what we believe.

Living on the edge is living self-willed, non-committed, stretching or breaking rules when it suits us. It’s doing what we want, when we want, because no one is watching.

Signs of Living on the Edge

Do you pay your bills on time, or let them pile up? Do you show yourself friendly, or would you rather not be bothered? Do you let your light shine, or hide it?

How is your relationship with the Lord and His church? Do you long to gather with God’s people, or is online church in your pajamas more appealing?

Is there prayer time with the Lord, or has the relationship grown cold— only revived when trouble comes?

Backsliding and Spiritual Drift

If any of this describes you, Scripture calls it backsliding. It doesn’t usually happen all at once. It happens slowly, little by little.

Life gets busy. Distractions pile up. We forget. We stop discerning between what is urgent and what is necessary.

Living on the edge is dangerous. Half-in. Half-out. Not fully committed to God or to anything else.

Danger of Compromise

Living on the edge is like living in sin while assuming grace will cover it. Loving God, but also loving the world.

No one backslides all at once. It begins with a look. A thought. A taste. A touch. Something small that grows into bondage.

When fellowship with God weakens, protection weakens. Temptation becomes stronger. We become easy targets.

There Is Still Hope

But I have good news. Jesus paid the price for every sin— past, present, and future.

If you realize you’ve been living on the edge, there is still hope. Repentance means a complete turn— a 180-degree change.

When you seek the Lord with your whole heart, He forgives, restores, and renews fellowship. The Holy Spirit comes again to guide and teach.

Invitation to Salvation

If you’ve never had a relationship with Jesus Christ, there is good news for you too. God made a perfect world. Sin broke that relationship. Jesus came to restore it.

Why continue living on the edge when the end is near? Why take the chance?

This can be the day you step off the edge and begin walking with God as a son or a daughter.

Closing Prayer

Father, I thank You for this opportunity. I thank You for this message. I pray that it falls on good ground and produces fruit in due season.

Thank You for making a way for people to come to know You. Continue to have Your way in our hearts and lives.

We give You glory and praise in Jesus’ name. Amen.
