The Regenerated Life

Spiritual Growth & Renewal

We’re in the season of spiritual growth. Every day should be a season of growth and renewal, but let’s begin with God’s Word:

Psalm 1:1–3 (KJV)
“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”

Ephesians 4:22–24 (KJV)
“That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.”

Praise God this morning. Spiritual growth and renewal begins with regeneration — something we all know, but something we need to practice daily. Growth is not a one-time event; it is a continual process of being renewed in Christ.

John 3:3 (KJV)
“Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

Pastor Rod reminded us through Psalm 1 – Planted to Prosper that the blessed man is evidence of regeneration. He avoids the ways of the ungodly, delights in the Word, and meditates day and night. His life is like a fruitful tree — rooted, strong, and prospering in season.

Regeneration is the work of the Holy Spirit, transforming us into new creations. As Paul wrote:

Romans 12:2 (KJV)
“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

Without regeneration, spiritual renewal and growth are impossible. Apart from Christ, all people are shaped in sin (Psalm 51:5) and fall short of God’s glory. But through repentance and faith in Christ, we are made new:

2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

Those who are truly born again are set free from sin’s bondage and filled with a desire to obey God. Regeneration is not about emotions or a fleeting altar-call moment — it’s about a made-up mind to follow Christ daily.

Galatians 5:16 (KJV)
“Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.”

When we walk in the Spirit, we live righteous lives. Spiritual growth and renewal are impossible without regeneration — but with Christ, we are rooted, renewed, and fruitful in Him.
