Why do we give?
We believe Christ’s followers should be the most generous people on the planet. By supporting worthy causes in our community and the world, the local church has the potential to be the greatest force for change.
We know that we can’t ‘out-give’ God. We believe the top competitor for our devotion to Jesus is our money. Giving helps us show Him that a relationship with Him is more important than our stuff. Trusting Him with your tithes and offerings shows that you trust Him with everything.
During many church services at Foundation, you will have the opportunity to physically give of your finances. Oftentimes, we receive an offering by allowing service-goers to walk around the church and present their offerings to the Lord in a unified gesture. This is a physical tradition that captures the spirit of communal celebration and giving. We believe that we are blessed to be a blessing!
We can also accept financial donations digitally. Giving online is a safe and secure way to give and only takes seconds. You can give one-time, or you can schedule a recurring donation.
What is a “Tithe”?
Tithe, which is an old word meaning “1/10th,” is defined as the first 10% of a person’s income that is to be given back to God through the local church. This idea of giving the first 10% is taught throughout the entire Bible. When we give our tithe, we express worship in a real and tangible way by showing God that He is first in our lives.
Tithing is our way of giving God our thanks for His blessings, demonstrating our trust in His ability to provide and care for us, while allowing us to be part of the most important thing that Jesus Himself said was what we all should be doing: spreading the Good News around the world.
You can find more about this idea of tithing by reading these passages from the Bible. Check out: Leviticus 27:30, Proverbs 3:9-10, Malachi 3:6-10, Matthew 6:19-24 and 1 Corinthians 16:1-2.
